The Design Research Society (DRS) is the multi-disciplinary international society for the global design research community. DRS run biannual conferences for practising designers, design researchers, academics and students to input and share research and practice insights through keynotes, debates, presentations, workshops and conversations. DRS required a brand design and website for the 2018 instalment of the conference, hosted at the University of Limerick.
What we did:
- Brand Development
- Logo Design
- Print Design
- Web Design & Development

BRAND DEVELOPMENT — Working with a strategy developed by Visual Communications students Tamara Stone and Selina Kindt from Limerick School of Art and Design, we created an identity that reflects the ethereal nature of design research. By remaining in a state of constant flux, the visual strategy presents infinite design solutions, allowing users to ‘warp’ the identity as they see fit. The identity was designed to evolve over the duration of the project in the physical and digital space.

PRINT — In the year leading up to the 2018 conference, we developed the visual identity and applied it to various graphic outputs, creating a suite of branded merchandise, print material, outdoor advertising and social media assets. We also designed a conference companion booklet, which included a detailed schedule and multiple maps of the conference locations.

WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT — We worked with the Design Research Society, The University of Limerick and Limerick School of Art and Design to develop a web strategy, design and build for a multi-purpose conference website. The resulting website was designed to transition through the various conference stages from ‘Call for Submissions’ to ‘Programme Listing’ to ‘Document Archive’. Ultimately, the website will serve as an academic documentation resource for all content created and presented at DRS2018. The website was built using Drupal 8 open source platform and is fully mobile responsive.
