Glór is a multi-disciplinary arts centre located in the heart of Ennis, Co Clare. Glór’s vision is to be a leading multi-disciplinary arts centre of excellence, enhancing Clare’s rich cultural landscape and enriching a wide circle of lives through shared creative events. Glór presents quality arts experiences for audiences, artists and communities, with a particular focus on the traditional arts. Glór enlisted Piquant to develop a website that would encourage engagement with new and existing audiences, and to increase engagement and accessibility with their facilities and artistic programmes.
What we did:
- Website Design & Development
- Information Architecture
INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE REQUIREMENTS — We carried out a client requirement analysis to gain a full understanding of what various users might require from the Glór website. Glór as an entertainment venue offers a selected seasonal programme of national and international touring events. While Glór as an arts centre serves the artistic community by producing and co-producing music and theatre productions, it also has an artist development programme and is widely used by community groups. It was important that the information architecture could deliver in these areas.

WEBSITE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT — We worked with the Glór team to evolve and expand on their visual identity for the website development project. We specified colour palette, typographic styles and imagery use guidelines to bring consistency to how content is presented online. Colour is used throughout the site to identify various strands in navigation and page layout. The user interface has been developed to be intuitive, particularly for less experienced website users.

EVENT LISTING PAGE — The event listing page was designed so events could be filtered by event type and by date. It was important that event listing titles and descriptions were structured correctly and consistently in the back end for accurate show time listings through Google event listing and ongoing SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).
EVENT PAGE – The event page was designed to be accessible, easily-digestible yet visually rich. It was important that these pages could take on the identity of the specific production, while offering a level of consistency when it comes to core information and booking. We developed a lightbox gallery functionality to facilitate production imagery along with video embed functionality. The website is fully integrated with the tickets.com booking system and Glór ticket desk.
TRAINING & DOCUMENTATION — We provided full CMS (content management system) training and documentation to the Glór communications team. We also provided an image usage guideline document to encourage consistency in presentation across the site.
MOBILE EVENT BOOKING — As the majority of Glór’s event bookings are completed through the website, it was imperative that it was designed to perform optimally on mobile devices. The sales funnel from digital marketing and event awareness on social channels, to booking and confirmation, can easily be completed on mobile or tablet devices.
