In 2022, O’Mahony’s Booksellers celebrated 120 years in business in Limerick, a hugely impressive milestone. Piquant worked with O’Mahony’s on a campaign to celebrate this anniversary, designing a campaign identity for use on display and merchandise, as well as a 6 month promotional campaign. The aim of the campaign was to capitalise on this prime opportunity to talk about the long and storied history of O’Mahony’s, and cement their reputation as an established institution nationally.

IDENTITY DESIGN — The project started with the design and development of a 120 years campaign identity. Piquant developed a campaign logo and identity guidelines, designed to be applied across merchandise, banners, in-store displays, window decals and digital assets. The logo design was inspired by location and street numbers, resulting in a contemporary render of a classic plaque design. The logomark featured prominently with a strong colour palette and beautiful typographic rules. This gave the identity an instantly recognisable incredibly flexible system that could be rolled out across various communications online and in the real world.
CAMPAIGN STRATEGY & SCHEDULES — Piquant devised a 6 month campaign strategy to promote the 120 years celebration. The strategy analysed target audiences, identified key messages and marketing channels, and included a series of monthly marketing initiatives, including plans for social and digital content as well as events and giveaways. Our campaign messaging and initiatives were built around looking back over the events of the last 120 years, showcasing O’Mahony’s memorabilia, and increasing engagement from old and new customers, as well as solidifying O’Mahony’s as a local and national institution.
CAMPAIGN CONTENT & RESULTS — From the campaign strategy, Piquant delivered monthly content schedules to the O’Mahony’s team, which outlined in detail the social media posts for each month, activating the planned initiatives. Graphic and video assets were provided along with the content schedules, which were placed across social channels by the O’Mahony’s team. The result was a long-term promotion that tapped into multiple facets of O’Mahony’s history to connect with a wide variety of audiences, with a successful children’s birthday card competition, eye-catching window decals, and engaging social content
