For five generations the Barber family have been handmaking jewellery in the town of Fermoy. Using his father’s tools, Simon is inspired by countryside rambles, and the wild Irish landscape. We developed a brand system which included logo design, photography, video, website design, as well as host of printed pieces to be used at point of sale and tradeshows. Working closely with Simon, we created a contemporary brand that celebrates the heritage of the Barber family.
What we did:
- Brand Development
- Print Design
- Video and Photography Production
- Marketing Campaign Management
- Web Design
BRAND DEVELOPMENT — Simon’s personality and family heritage are crucial components of his brand. With this in mind, we created an icon of Simon, placing him front and centre of this brand. The logo was inspired by classical etched emblems used by merchants, though simplified for modern use. It is a timeless logo, though we included small modern elements, such as Simon’s sneakers, to reflect his contemporary approach to a time-honoured practice. Simon’s work is informed by his explorations in nature, as a result when developing assets and colours for the brand we too drew from nature. Using etchings of leaves and tree-rings, and developing a palette of colours found in the Irish landscape.
PHOTO & VIDEO PRODUCTION — Each piece of Simon’s jewellery is handmade, with great detail and forms inspired by the Irish landscape. We photographed these pieces in a colourful studio environment to accentuate the unique features of each piece. When choosing models for styled shots, we opted for friends of the Barber family, setting each shot in Irish rural and urban environments.
BRAND APPLICATION — When launching this brand we developed a range of print and digital pieces, such as a website, folding business cards, catalogues and point-of-sale pieces to be used during tradeshows and in retail environments. In application, we used the brand yellow to act as a primary signifier of the brand.
CAMPAIGN MANAGEMENT — We coordinated a brand relaunch campaign on social media, including paid advertising and native content, with the aims of promoting the new brand, driving traffic to the online shop, and generating sales. We created a variety of social content, including video, product photography, blogs and product carousels. Audience profiles and custom audiences were built, targeting relevant interest groups, and retargeting website visitors. We placed ads on Facebook and Instagram; multiple ads were tested with variations in content, format and ad copy.
