The University of Limerick wanted to highlight their high level of achievement at postgraduate level as well as the range and scope of research and development in the postgraduate school. In the new postgraduate prospectus for the 2017/18 academic year, we used a combination of interviews, environmental portraits, graphic design and iconography in the content creation process to tell the UL postgraduate story.
What we did:
- Editorial Design
- Photography Production
- Content Creation

EDITORIAL DESIGN — To accurately represent the postgraduate courses available at UL, we worked with the UL Marketing & Communications department to highlight the strengths and accurately list the details of each taught programme in the new 2017/18 postgraduate prospectus. We designed the iconography that instantly communicates memorable facts about the university. Pull-quotes were also used on standalone pages to emphasise the University’s achievements.

STUDENT INTERVIEWS & ENVIRONMENTAL PHOTOGRAPHY — We spoke directly with UL postgraduate students to understand and communicate their stories. By interviewing and photographing the students in their UL environment, we brought the students’ perspective to the brochure. This also gives prospective students a taste of life at the University and communicates how a UL postgraduate degree can develop one’s career. The portraits and interviews showcase the high achievements of postgraduate students and the valuable educational resources in UL.

PHOTOGRAPHY PRODUCTION — The University recently made additions to its research facilities with the Bernal Institute, the Health Research Institute and LERO, the Irish Software Research Centre. We used a series of standalone images to display these impressive buildings and attractive research institutes, while the collections of images show how the new modern landscape of the University fits in with the original buildings.

COMMUNICATION — The University of Limerick postgraduate prospectus is available in print form or as a pdf for download from the University website. It was important to tell the story of the postgraduate experience at UL as the student interviews bring a peer-to-peer element to the copywriting, like a friend making a recommendation.
